31st May 2026 : Shodasa Kalanidhi (Kuchipudi Dance Drama):

Maanavseva, held its annual celebration and fundraiser event on May 31 at the Grafton High School auditorium. As a part of the event, a musical dance drama/ballet, “Shodasa Kalanidhi” was presented.

The distinguished Chief Guest for the event was Mr. Subu M Kota, a well-known successful entrepreneur. In addition to heading up the Boston Group as its Chairman and CEO, Mr. Kota is a noted philanthropist and a community leader exemplifying a life of service, innovation and resilience. In his address, he emphasized the need for everyone, to make a difference by giving back to the society in some form or the other.

The evening’s program, Shodasa Kalanidhi, a spiritually rich Kuchipudi dance ballet, was inspired by the classical Shodasopachara Puja – the sixteen sacred offerings made to the Divine. This production demonstrated a contemplative journey through which dance becomes a prayer, and devotion blossoms into self-realization.

A noteworthy aspect of this production is that all elements of the ballet were conceived, created and produced by local talent. Songs were written, composed and sung by Padmaja and Srinivas Balabhadrapatruni. Audio recording, Engineering, Editing and post processing done by their son, Virinchi and the choreography was by Prafulla Velury, who is the Founder and Artistic Director of PADAM Academy. With 78 dancers in the ballet putting their skills on display in front of over 400 attendees, this event was a resounding success. The feedback from the attendees who voiced their appreciation confirms this. The fundraising was also successful with the donations and pledges received, exceeding the targets.

The attendees not only enjoyed the presentation but also some delicious snacks and dinner arranged for the evening.  Maanavseva extends its thanks and appreciation to all the supporters.

Indian Whistlers’ Association (IWA) is a non-profit organization based in India that has been bringing pleasure to people across the globe through the unique talents of its members, spread across all parts of India as we as some of the international locations.  Maanavseva partnered with IWA and organized an event to spread awareness about the mission and work of both organizations.

On 31 October 2020, in the middle of the Covid pandemic, this program was held via Zoom with several hundred attendees joining from across the globe.  This was an entertainment program, aimed at promoting and supporting Cancer Awareness.  Members of IWA enthralled the attendees with their talent, whistling away popular Hindi film songs to the delight of everyone.  This event was also a fundraiser for Maanavseva to support its work in providing health education/screening, cancer screening etc., to rural women and children in Andhra Pradesh.  The program was extremely well received, with overwhelming and almost unanimous positive feedback from the audience and attendees.  We at Maanavseva are thankful to IWA and its members for their participation and presentation, and to the other attendees for their monetary and moral support to our efforts.
